I can’t, which is one of the reasons why I rarely write about programming: it’s just not worth the risk of putting myself out there on that subject because the risk of strongly negative feedback is higher than with most other content that I can produce. It’s much easier to share my breakfast than my easily argued, easily disproven, intellectually vulnerable thoughts on programming.
marco is spot on here, especially with regards to programmers being quite nasty people in these communities. i see this all the time in myself (to much dismay.) programmers are strange, strange people. they live in a world where one person can be more productive than 5 people - which gives them a little chip on their shoulder that they carry into these discussions (and irl, i imagine.)
i do wish marco would write about programming more, though. to be honest, that’s pretty much the reason i follow - he’s scaling one of the most interesting, solid platforms around. (how trite would it sound if i said tumblr changed my life?) even if it’s “easily disproven”, there’s gotta be some wisdom in that experience.
