eh, i’ll let him be. for one reason: if he thinks that a band can “turn” someone gay, then he’s probably unable to deal with his own sexuality - be it as a straight person, or a gay person, or someone in between. i have a lot of pity for these people because they are living inside of a box, and that’s a good way to lock out any potential true loves from your life.

i’m not gay myself - but i went through a period where i wondered, gee, maybe i am gay? and honestly, that period of my life is probably not done yet (is it ever?)  - i might not have met the right gay guy, or the right straight girl, to show me definitively either way. but what i have come to terms with - it’s okay, either way. don’t let other people define what your sexuality means to you. just be comfortable with yourself; let other people worry about themselves. and if you are around people that let your sexuality bother them, then they probably aren’t people worth being around anyway.

if you are gay, you are gay. if you are straight, you are straight. if you can’t make up your mind, you are probably bi. a band (or book or movie or person) won’t “turn” you gay or straight - but on the other hand, it could make you realize that hey, you might be! we all have a natural inclination inside of us and this big giant world will draw out that inclination. that’s the wonderful thing about art: it’s a way to understand the world around you. it could “turn” you gay in the sense that it could show you something about yourself that you did not know, but it could also just be a nice band to listen to on a sunday night.

the more time you spend worrying about it, either way (will this make me gay? am i really straight?) seems to be just a waste (to me, at least.) let it be - keep an open mind. treat everyone you meet with respect, because - hey, who really knows?
